points in xml

Postby Joseph Bishop » Sat Mar 08, 2003 12:57 am

Hope you can help with this problem. In my prior version of survcadd, when
I would erase a point (point being the description, pntno, pntelev, and
pntmark), I could just pick one of those entities and it would all erase..
or change a layer. Now in the new survcadd xml, if I do that, the pntmark
stays on the screen and I have to erase that seperately. Any help would be
appreciated on this subject. Thanks.

I have this problem occasionally, not everytime. Most of the time it works
correctly. Maybe it has something to do with locating points from a CRD file
, then moving the CRD file like the other problem described in the "Warning,
Do not copy, move or rename coord file!" post?

It happens every single time in my new XML files. I now have to erase the
AutoCAD point for each Survcadd point after I have erased the Survcadd
points using the "erase points" from the "Points" menu. If there has been a
change in the programming and a new box we need to uncheck, we need to know.

I tried:
Points->Erase Points->Number
Point numbers to erase:all
Works fine for me.

If you choose to not delete from the CRD file, the Erase Points command doesn't look for the CRD file. So it doesn't matter if it has been moved or renamed.

I cannot repeat this. I open SurvCADD, use Draw-Locate | Screen Pick, to locate a few points. Then I erase all of these using the AutoCAD erase command. Then I use Draw-Locate to redraw all the points. Then I run Points | Erase Points - it erases everything. I have tried the Screen and Number method. I have tried almost every combination of toggles in Point Defaults and Configure SurvCADD also.

Can you let me know what settings (other than default) that you have in Configure SurvCADD and Point Defaults. What method are you using to locate these points? Field to Finish?, Draw-Locate Points?, Intersections?, Points from Entities?

It's difficult to us to fix a problem that we cannot reproduce.

Thanks.

Re: points in xml

Hi Randall,

My points were created from FTF. Most of my files start out with assumed
coords and are rotated and translated once the boundary has been calculated
by someone else and given back to me by DXF. I am using either (1)AutoCAD
move/rotate and "update coord from screen", or (2)Align in CFU. As far as
erasing points is concerned, the points I am erasing almost always need to
be removed from the coord file, so "Yes" is selected twice from the routine
"erase points". I have noticed in previous versions that the points are
still there whether you can see them on screen or not. You can only select
and erase them by using the Acad "filter" command. which can see just about
anything, whether or not it is visible. Proof of this becomes apparent when
I create a DXF file for my boss who is using HASP. He complains that there
are 2 entire sets of coords if it is a file I have rotated/translated. I
think that the programmers have actually fixed this to a degree. Now you can
actually SEE the points that the "erase points" routine leaves in the dwg,
therefore you KNOW they need to be erased. This is a much better situation
than before. The routine just needs to be finalized so it will take that
extra step and erase the points as well.

Several things are different from your scenario. My points were created
using FTF and I cannot use "all". I am only erasing some of them, I have to
use "pick from screen". It would probably be hard for you to replicate this
unless you had my entire config. I have been very careful in my customizing,
I asked Boyd in the beginning how to do it, each step of the way. Bottom
line - I am confident in my setup, but you not being able to replicate my
problem is like apples to oranges. Do you want my entire Survcadd directory
on CD perhaps? That might work.
Thank you for trying,

Randall,

Is the fact that I have created my own symbol blocks (SPT1-SPT51) causing a
problem with this? I was very careful to create very plain symbols with
absolutely no customizing at all. All my blocks are plain acad entities on
layer 0, txt font, bylayer color, continuous linetype, standard dimstyle. I
have purge everything from them. What do you think?
