Setting up point tolerance?

Postby Jerry Pinta » Wed Oct 08, 2003 1:19 am

Hey guys and gals,

I am looking for a setting or a way to tell SurvCad not to duplicate points.
Example of what I am talking about: I will be setting up the points for the
field crews to go out and stake curb. I have my drawing and am offsetting
lines by 3 feet and setting the points accordingly. Lets say I offset a curb
that turns 90 degrees. I offset the two lines and chamfer them to give me a
3'x3' offset to the curb. When I snap on the first line it will give me a
point (lets say point 1) at the 3x3, then when I snap on the sencond line,
it gives me another point (point 2) at the same place I already have a
point. Is there a place for me to set "no duplicate points within .xxx
tolerance"?

Thanks in advance,
Jerry

Thank you Tomer for the duplicate points in the CFU answer. That will help,
but I was wondering if there was a place to set the tolerance so that
SurvCad will not create the duplicate points. The "duplicate points" command
does find them and will delete them, but does not prevent Cad from creating
them. I try to keep the points in numerical order for staking purposes out
in the field. I have not tried the compress points comand yet, so I am not
sure if it will just drop the points down to fill the gaps or if it takes
the top point numbers and fills the gaps with those points. Hopefully there
is a setting for no dup points, if not, guess that is wish list for future.

For staking purpose use COGO>Interpolate points
and/or COGO>Create Points from Entities, check Avoid Duplicate With Existing
Pts
Hope this helps.
