Coord File Link Problem

AutoCAD 2004/SurvCadd XML2-Oct 20 2003

I briefly scanned the newsgroup headers and did not see this (forgive me if
it has already been addressed) - When trying to change the coord file link
from CFU of a file created in Acad2000/XML, I get an error message when
trying to assign the new coord file location: "ERROR-File is either
read-only or opened by another program". When I click "Exit", there is an
unrecoverable memory error. Survcadd keeps running as if nothing happened,
but I don't trust it and from my own paranoia I must exit and restart
Survcadd. Since I just installed 2004/XML2, I still have 2000/XML on my
machine. I can audit the coord link in the exact same file just fine in the
older program. Is this a glitch in XML2? Why doesn't it work the same as the
previous version? Is there a (God forbid) workaround? Is there a patch fix
for this?

In SurvCADD XML use Export Text/ASCII File to create A.TXT
In SurvCADD XML2 create a new CRD file and use Import Text/ASCII File to
import A.TXT
Hope this helps

Thank you for the "workaround". I have used that workaround for many
situations. This is clearly a glitch. Is there any discussion at Carlson for
fixing it? I believe it is a problem with the way 2004 works with Windows XP
but I have been told by a Microsoft programmer it can easily be fixed. The
problem only occurs in XML2/2004 and not in XML/2000.
