Overwrite protection

Postby Steve Murphy » Fri May 07, 2004 7:25 pm

When I download data from a data collector (in this case an HP-48 running
SMI), and select an existing CRD file to add the points to, duplicate point
numbers are overwritten without question. If someone in the office generates
points on the drawing with the same numbers that a field surveyor happens to
use that day there is no warning that the office points are about to be
overwritten.
When importing an ASCII file or merging one CRD into another the option to
overwrite or renumber appears.
Could this feature be incorporated into the Data Collector read routine?

This behavior has been present for a long time.
I think the 'official' solution is to download into a new empty CRD file, then merge as necessary.
