point coordinate table

Postby NNguyen » Wed Jun 16, 2004 6:29 am

Goodness, today I have a headache trying to make a grid coordinate table for
my survey control map.

First I tried the Point table of SurvCADD, they have surface coordinate, but
couldn't find anything on how to turn them into grid coordinate, and
couldn't generate Station and edit Description (why oh why???) for points.
So, I have to go a long way to make it. I listed the points, exported them
into an ascii file, then opened with Excel, multiplied the existing surface
coordinate with the fraction to get grid coordinate, filled in the
description, station, hid those point numbers and elevations. After that, I
tried to use Misc/Text Import/Columns for Dtext file but no avail, the
computer just say Select first point and it did nothing, so I imported the
xls file as an OLE into the Drawing, but that also didn't work because when
I printed it came out too dark.

Next came the Property corners table, I only need station, offset and
description column for this table, and I still didn't know how to do that in
Carlson, so I came over to LDD, run an Alignment Station and Offset report
(of course I didn't know how to do it at first, so I search a little bit in
Help file), brought it over into Excel again, edited everything, hid point
numbers, elevations, and saved it, and then Imported the xls file into
AutoCAD as OLE.

But like I said, I didn't like how those two table look when it printed (too
dark), so I copy and paste those text into Mtext, and then exploded the
Mtext, and draw lines around and made a table. There went my entire day, I
even have a headache thinking about it now.

My question: is there anyway I can do it faster??? I like the fact that I
learnt how to run Alignment Station and Offset report in LDD today, but is
there anyway I can make a Station, Offset, Coordinates, and Description
table in Carlson? If not, I wanna put it on the wish list. I wish the
Point table also like Line table or curve table, in term of Editing, I can
click edit like table and go inside edit them attributes. So easy!!!!

Thank you everybody for reading my rant ^.^
