Cut/Fill Color Map using Volumes by Triangulation?

Postby Matthew Timion » Tue Apr 06, 2004 8:21 pm

Hello all,

I'm using SurvCadd to figure out cut/fill quantities. As many of you know,
doing this by Triangulation is much faster and IMO much more efficient than
using a grid file. Comparing grid files at higher resolutions seems to take
hours compared to 10 minutes with Triangulation.

The downside of using triangulation is that I seemingly cannot make a
cut/fill color map.

Is there a way to make this map without comparing GRD files?

Any help would be much appreciated as I am currently chugging away at this
project.

Probably too late for you...too bad somebody from Carlson does not read
this board every night.

I store the differences in a TIN then contour that TIN. You will end up
with contours that represent the amount of cut or fill. I then color by
elevation, cuts in red and fills in blue. Jeremy

R.K. Are you the one who used to check this site? I have seen your name

in quite a few discussion groups. You have been more than helpful at the
POB site. It appears that you contribute here as well. Thanks. JRL

Yes. I may be the only one who still does.. :-)

Try to help when I can. I learned a lot from the autodesk groups years
ago (and still do today for that matter)

True, but I've had to cut back since the check$ from Carlson stopped a
while back ;-|

Hey fellas,

Don't sell this newsgroup short - we check this newsgroup at least once a
week.
I reckon that others do check it without necessarily contributing.

Scrolling back about 6 months I can see at least 8-10 names.
We use this newsgroup to get ideas & understand CS & SurvCADD more.

I'd like to think that Carlson read this - but haven't seen any input for a
while??
They probably should resume their newsletters & review the newsgroup items
to generate more interest.

Regards...Stephen

I check the newsgroup every few days, but I have to admit there hasn't been
much going on, and any response is usually slow, but, I see 'Ol Lon had been
in here. There is some sign of life... Maybe a little pro-mo from Carlson
would get users going again?
