Point Symbol Layers

Is it possible to assign a different default layer to different point
symbols?

I was experimenting around yesterday and tried messing with the layers in
the actual symbol DWG file but that really confused survcad. All of the
symbols seem to be created on the "0" layer. Seems simple enough for survcad
to look and see that if the actual symbol drawing file is on a different
layer to simply default to that.

Try using the Field to Finish routines.

"Point Defaults" has settings to use Field to Finish as well.

Also, in "Draw-Locate Points" there is a "Layer by Desc" option.

It can be quite undesirable to define blocks on layers other than "0".

I believe that blocks created on any layer other than 0 inherit the
properties of that layer. Can be a real pain in the rear. I had a problem
where all my blocks were created on the layer "Monuments" I placed those
blocks on other layers, but could not turn them off till I turned both
layers off. JRL
