I receive a fatal error several times a day usually when I run the field to
finish, point editing, and surface commands. Listed below is the message

This is probably an issue that needs to be explored in some detail with

some trial and error performed. Please give me a call when you get a
free minute. 800-989-5028

Barkley:

Since we updated to the latest XP Pro software, the new service pack, we have
had one or two crashes a day on many different drawings, so far the recover
drawing has kept us from losing anything. It is happening on several
different machines and it is always an unhandeled exception error. Hope
this helps, I don't know if it is the same problem that Medina is having or
not. It doesn't seem to be related to any one command.

What anti-virus software package are you running?

Norton anti virus on one Mcafee on the others, seems to make no difference.

Sounds dangerous. I would caution you against putting too much faith in autosave or backup files. Using QSAVE often is the only way to go. Make sure ISAVEPERCENT is set to zero also.

You can't qsave when the program crashes, you have to rely on the recover or
back up.

LOL
You missed the point.
If you QSAVE often enough, you will never need an autosave or backup file.

I have only required an autosave and/or backup file maybe once or twice in
10+ years of using AutoCAD. And that was at the beginning.

Also, NEVER answer yes to that question "AutoCAD cannot continue, do you
want to save your changes?" - 9 times out of 10, the data written to disk
will be corrupt.
