Eagle Point coding

The following excerpt is from the Help file:

"Process Eagle Point Coding: When checked, this option allows the user to
switch from interpreting coordinate files based on the Carlson Coding
method to interpreting coordinate files where the field coding was entered
using the Eagle Point Data Collection method."

Has anyone actually done this? or is this hype used to get people to
switch? We have been spectacularly unsuccessful at constructing any
linework by using EP codes. And we do have "use multiple codes for
linework only" checked as well. Over the years our survey crew has become
very adept at using .L, .L+ and .R along with accurate descriptors. It
would be a shame to waste time with a new learning curve if SurvCad will
actually do this conversion for us.

Tried SurvCad's .fld,
tried converting EP's code file to .fld,
tried new .fld.

Points, symbols, and linework utilising Survcad method come in (which is
useless with our present methods), but no linework based on EP coding.
What are the "Magic Words" to get this working?

Thanks Ran, your reply seems to be right on target with today's software
attitude, haha. Won't it be a wonderful day when someone learns to write
Help Menus that really work!

I sure wish you would quit cussing and swearing on this board, Eagle Point
is a bad word in my book.

Not helping your current situation much, but you will be better off
conforming to your new software, not expecting it to conform to you. If your
company has decided to go with Carlson, why not have them learn a few codes,
can't be much....If you make them, they will learn the new codes. Then life
will be easy and straight forward, one less step. JRL

Hey JRL,

Know exactly what you mean about EP; been after the company for several
years to get us on the Carlson Boat; finally paid off this year. And I
wouldn't have expected SurvCad to allow for the different coding, but they
are the ones who promised it. That being said, I expect it to work,
right? If it's something I'm overlooking, fine, I'm just a simple-minded
surveyor trying to follow the Help Menu, haha. But if it's a bug in their
program, I expect them to address it. So I'm just checking to see if
others have had the problem.

Jack, I have used EP for years with great success for my topo surveys, but
I use carlson for my boundary work. II find it very easy to use the button
"process as eagle Point" It works very well for me.
Exactly what types of trouble are you having?
