Model tab and paperspace

Greetings everyone:

We are a small land surveying firm and always deal with just one drawing. I
have a current topo survey we have done, which is very long in width and
narrow in width. I have completely drawn it up as a whole but would like to
split the drawing up into two drawings (east 1/2 and west 1/2). Can I do
this with the paperspace? I have my two titleblocks inserted into the
drawing, but I am not sure how to go about doing this the best way. I know
this is probably a long question with a long answer, but any help would be
much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

I believe paperspace is just the thing you want to use. Here is how I go
about such tasks:

Uusally, Autocad starts you out with 2 paperspace layout tabs (Layout1 and
Layout2).
1. Click on the first layout tab and insert your titleblock there at paper
scale (1"=1") on your title block layer.
2. Create a viewport using the MVIEW command on a viewport layer (different
than titleblock). The viewport can utilize the available drawing space in
the title block. By default, the model space within the viewport should be
at zoom extents.
3. In the viewport toolbar (if it is not open, right click a blank area of
another toolbar and activate it), type in the desired drawing scale...(1:50,
1:100...whatever).
4. Once the desired scale is established, pan the drawing until the are
depicting the west portion of the property is displayed.
5. Turn OFF the title block layer, and copy the viewport, snapping the
upper left corner of the orignal viewport and placing it to the upper right.
6. On the top menubar, select Express>Layout Tools>Synchronize Viewports
(or type vpsync). It will prompt to "select objects". Select just the left
viewport...(prompt will change to "Select viewports to be aligned to master
viewport") then select the right viewport.
7. Open the Properties dialog (Ctrl+1), select both viewports and in the
Misc area, toggle "Display Locked" to "yes".
8. Turn the title block back on.
9. Right click on the layout tab and select "move or copy", check "create a
copy" box. Place it after your first layout.
10. Rename the first layout "West" and erase the viewport on the right.
11. Rename the second layout "East" and erase the viewport to the left.
Move the remaining viewport to the correct position within the title block.

That might sound kinda long, but it is not...I'm being pretty detailed.
This should have you well set up to finish up your plats.

I think I got it Terry, thank you so much. I didn't understand all of it as
I don't have express tools, I don't think. One more question for you.

In my original drawing, my linetype scale is set at 30 scale so all lines
are correct. But then in paper, I have to change to linetype scale of 1 to
make all of them plot correctly. Is there a way to make it stay at 30 in my
model and then switch to 1 in my paper?

After creating the viewports, go back to the model tab and type PSLTSCALE
and set it to 0.

All the lines will look the same in model as well as paperspace.

It comes with express tools. Try typing EXPRESSMENU to load them.
If that doesn't work...you can install them off the CD if you choose.
