Export Drawing to Acad 14

Greetings again,

One of my clients had requested that I send him his drawing as a .PDF file.
Upon some research I discover that .dwg files can be converted to pdf but
only up to Acad2000.
This led me to looking for the export to earlier version command. Which I
found File/Export Drawing to Acad 14.

The problem I'm having is that no file is created by the process. First I'm
asked for an origional drawing (it actually says "open file"), and then asks
me to name the created file ("Save file"). I hit the save button and there's
a moment of "thinking" and then my screen goes back to normal. No file is
created, no error is reported. Has anyone else had trouble with this command
and fixed it?
