Locking the Units for a dwg

Anyone please help.

I create an new drawing using a template and have the units specified to metres degrees minutes seconds etc.

For the majority of my work the units remain the same as those set, however when I use some Carlson routines these units get reset to Surveyors Units etc. this is becoming increasingly frustrating.

I have narrowed down one of the routines as using the area command, I select say area by closed lines or lines/entities and then it calculates the area in metres squared which is what is required.

If I then check the units tab these have somehow been reset to surveyors units and therefore need to be reset time and time again.

My question is whether there is a way to set the units and LOCK them in so that no routine changes them unknowingly?

I have had this problem since carlson 2004. Still waiting for a fix

i have 09 and it is still happening.... VERY FRUSTRATING!!!
