Next Patch Date for Survey 2008?

Postby tstrickland » Thu Feb 28, 2008 11:48 pm

Could you tell us when the anticipated release date is for the next patch in Carlson Survey 2008? I am waiting on this before re-doing my menus and custom icons. I want to be sure it can find them. I have a few now with the :?: icon.
thanks,
terry

Thanks, Jason,
I may need to edit the paths and/or default directory for Survey. It currently defaults to C:\, although I have the shortcut set to run in C:\ACACJOBS, and the Project/ Data Startup folder set to C:\ACACJOBS, it appears to ignore it.

Perhaps this path needs to be added in the settings > preferences > file? Also, there is a default path for custom icons in preferences, but it does not appear to be editable.
thanks again,
terry

Terry,

Is this version of 2008 Survey an add-on to AutoCAD or the Standalone version? Are the icons that fail to appear custom or standard icons? We may just need to reload the CUI file.

If in the standalone - type 'CUI' at the command line to open the cui - once in the cui, under the customize tab find the pulldown that should read "All Customization Files" - expand and select 'Open' - navigate to the 'Support' directory - "C:\Documents and Settings\"Your User Name"\Application Data\Carlson Software\Carlson Software 2008\R2008\enu\Support" - find and open the 'dbcon.cui' file this should reset the path to the menu groups.

If these are custom icons you may need to recreat them under the programs CUI. You can save these icons in the "C:\Program Files\Carlson Software 2008\Support" directory.

All of this information is under the assumption you are using the Standalone software version.

Derek,
Yes, I am using the 2008 Standalone. I re-loaded the CUI file as per your directions, but it still didn't change the icons. I am only missing 3 that have question marks: Set Layer, Change Layer, and Layer State Manager in the
view menu. I'm going to wait on the latest patch before re-doing my custom menus that I had in Survey 2006. The Layer State Manager don't work for some reason, but no big deal to me.
However, I'm now getting the following on startup (but don't appear to affect anything, assume it deals with the "survey.mnu not found" thing that will be fixed in the patch):

Any progress on the patch. I have several problems with 2008 which are frustrating.

There are several problems with 2008 which seem to have fallen off the radar. I have managed to isolate a solution to one of them.

Often When I use single line text or Multline text the routine fails after a brief pause. No error appears and no box appears to add the text.

In the past I was sometimes able to restore the function by deleting some of the files in the document & settings...\USER directory. ( I have used this technique to solve other niggling problems where functions drop out of use.

The text problem returns if I select the add text with special leader option. I would hope there is more permanent solution on the way
