Transfering Files

Postby Justin Brungard » Fri Aug 19, 2005 1:13 am

I am running Survey 2006 and Roads 2006 and I am trying to transfer roading
files such as a template series file to SurvCE in an allegro. However when
I transfer my tsf to my allegro and try to stakeout by template it doesn't
work. It seems to me that it is looking for my desktop files in my allegro.
I am transfering files through microsoft activesync. Can you tell me what I
am doing wrong?

Justin try using the transfer program in Survey 2006. Their are minor
formating changes that I remember and Carlson Transfer makes them on the
fly, while ms activesync just transfer the files as is.

If I'm wrong Barkley will correct me.

Same problem here. The TSF file is just a pointer to the templates so you
have to download the templates as well.Carlson hardwires the paths to the
templates in the .tsf file. The tsf file is ascii so you can open it up in
notepad and look at it. Very annoying behavior. It would be great if it
didn't find the template at the specified location that iit would check the
directory where the .tsf is stored.

Justin,
The TSF file is a pointer to the template files so you have to download
these as well. Also Carlson hardwires the directory path to the templates in
the TSF file. The tsf file is ascii so open it up in notepad and check it
out. Several solutions: You can edit the tsf file in notepad and edit the
directory path to match the data collector directory structure. I personally
create the tsf in the data collector then upload the entire job directory to
the pc for downloading to the other crews (this maintains the path created
in tsf)
Carlson need to remove the path or search in local directory if the template
is not found at the specified location. Very frustrating behavior.
