can someone please tell me the command for this in carlson?

It's not available in the stand alone version to my knowledge. You might get someone who has acad or icad to create a block for you, insert it into your template drawing, and explode and scale it when you need one. Kind of a clumsy approach, but doable.

Draw a diamond the size you need, width and height (use polyline command)and then smooth it.
makes a nice ellipse.

Thanks I'll try both of those. We have 1 computer w/ acad on it, so if the diamond approach doesn't work for me, I'll do the other.
