Drawing 1 - How to disable

Postby Harley Pawley » Fri Feb 17, 2006 8:57 pm

I know I have fixed this problem before, but I can't find the answer again
on the newsgroup...

How do I turn off the automatic creation of Drawing1 upon startup?

Please post the answer to the newsgroup so I can find it the next time I
have to reinstall or an upgrade.

Thanks!

"Drawing1.dwg" will close itself when the next drawing is opened,
provided that DBMOD=0.

If DBMOD /= 0, then "Drawing1.dwg" will remain open. In this case, you
have a startup routine of some sort modifying "Drawing1.dwg". Find the
offending code and modify or delete it.

The only other option is to turn on the startup dialog in Options on the
System tab.

How do I change DBMOD to 0? I type it in and it says: Unknown command

Are you giving instructions for SurvCADD with AutoCAD?

In SurvCADD, I get: DBMOD = 21 (read only), how do I change it in there?

I do use the startup dialog, but Drawing1 remains opened, in both
programs...

You should be able to do it under settings> enrivonment variables.
However, I could view it, but couldn't change it.
It shows values from 1 to 31, but the "change" button is grayed out.

You don't. It only "reports" a value.

It is 0 when a new drawing is opened, and then it's value is modified as
the drawing is modified.

I type it in and it says: Unknown command

Oops, sorry. With CS, I guess you are at the mercy of the programming
staff since a lot of the ACAD functionality has been omitted.

See above.

I don't see how, since "drawing1.dwg" is never created. The startup
dialog appears before any drawing is loaded so you can either choose an
existing drawing, or create a new one.

Or are you talking about a special Carlson startup dialog? In that case,
who knows....?
