Collector Connector  (CC09)

Invalid Data Collector File

If the file name you enter for the Data Collector File is not a valid file name or it does not exist, or if an error occurs when attempting to open the specified file, you will receive a message similar to the following:

You must enter a valid Data Collector File Name before you can continue.

(The filename currently ends with a backslash, which indicates it is a

directory name, not a file name.)

Please check the path and filename to be sure you typed them correctly.

You may also need to check the Default Paths on the Configure screen.

If you cannot remember the name of your file, select the

<File Browse..> button.

Since you only enter a data collector file name when you are converting an existing data collector file to a COGO file, the file name that you enter must exist.  You can be sure that the file exists if you select it using the File Browse feature instead of typing in the file name.

Check the file name to be sure it is a valid file name.  File names and directories are limited to a maximum of eight characters with a three character extension, and even when running in Windows, they must not contain any of the following characters:

/   [   ]   :   |   <   >   +   =   ;   ,   *   ?

Be sure to follow all drive designations with :\ and place a \ after each directory name.  Do not place a \ after an actual file name or Collector Connector will treat it as a directory name.

If you are having difficulty entering a valid file name, it is best simply to use the File Browse feature to enter or select your file name from the Windows-style file selection screen.
