"Sight"
Survey
(SS02)
Sharing Violation errors
If "Sight" Survey issues a
Sharing Violation error when it first attempts
to load into memory, it is most likely because neither the DOS
SHARE.EXE or Windows VSHARE is
loaded into memory. If you allowed "Sight" Survey's Setup
program to install the VShare device, you simply need to restart your computer
for VShare to be loaded into memory, then restart "Sight" Survey. If you did not
allow "Sight" Survey to install VShare, you will either need to install it
manually or re-install "Sight" Survey and allow it to load the VShare statement
for you.
To install VShare manually, you must edit the Windows
SYSTEM.INI
configuration file located in the Windows directory.
To edit the SYSTEM.INI file, click Start,
select Run, type SYSTEM.INI and press Enter
The file should open up in the Windows Notepad or WordPad editor. Under the
[386Enh] section, add the following line:
DEVICE=VSHARE.386 Save the changes, exit, and restart Windows.
You should now be able to run "Sight" Survey.
Note: File Save errors may be caused by
a sharing violation
A sharing violation may also cause "Sight" Survey to abort a file
save operation. If you are performing a file save, and the program gets to
70% and then locks up or otherwise stops, follow the above instructions to
install VShare manually.
