"Sight" Survey
(SS09)
Part of the Drawing is Cut Off
or Missing
If part of your drawing is cut off (runs off the edge of the paper), you most
likely need to re-center the drawing on the page by using the Draw > Center
Paper (CE) routine.
If parts of your drawing are entirely missing, use the Edit Layers (EL)
routine to ensure that all layers are visible. If specific colors (other than
white) have not been printed, try plotting again and ensure that the Minimum
Pen and Maximum Pen in the Printer Defaults
dialog box are set to 1 and 15, respectively, even if your plotter
only has 6 or 8 pens. These pen numbers refer to the internal numbering system,
so if you give a maximum pen of 6, only entities drawn in the first 6 colors
(red, olive, yellow, lime, green and teal) will be plotted.
If you are not using a color printer or plotter, ensure that the
All Colors to Black check box is enabled in the Printer Defaults dialog
box. If this doesn't work, you may need to set up your printer driver in the
Windows Control Panel to set all colors to black.
If you are using a color inkjet printer or plotter, verify that it has not
run out of an ink color. Note that pen 12 - White is not plotted, and
some printers also will not print other colors such as pale blue. If you
have used white (or another unprintable color) on your drawing, change all
those objects to another color using the Hands-on Instructions in the
manual.
If the proper colors are not printed as expected, you may need to alter the
default color mapping. You will first need to determine which colors are causing
a problem. First, begin a New Job (NJ) and use the File >
Import > Drawing routine to import the PenTests.Drg drawing file.
This file was installed when you installed "Sight" Survey version 2. It has
sample text and lines in different colors and widths which, when printed or
plotted, should help you determine if there is a color mapping problem between
"Sight" Survey and your printer or plotter. Once you have determined if, and
where, the mapping problem is, run the Plot Drawing routine and select
the .Pen Mappings
button on the Printer Defaults dialog box to alter the default widths or colors.
(If you enter a width, it will override the current line or arc width for lines
or arcs which have a zero width.) You may also be able to change the pen colors
in your plotter driver. This would be done by clicking on the
.Setup button in the Printers
Setup dialog box which is accessed through the Windows Control Panel.
If you are plotting to a file, you must set the plotter port to file instead of
COM1 in the Windows Control Panel Printer Setup. For some reason, if you only
enable the Print to File check box within the plotting routine and the
plotter is still configured for COM1, the plotter driver chops your drawing to
the 8.5" x 11" letter size.
