"Sight" Survey  (SS107)

Fonts in Custom Linetypes won't plot

Some older plotters, and all pen plotters, are not capable of handling TrueType fonts.  The custom linetypes in "Sight" Survey use TrueType fonts within the lines.  These characters will not print on plotters that cannot handle a TrueType font.

If you already have a drawing with custom linetypes, you can change the character font before plotting.  You can also edit the CustomLT.mac file to create custom linetypes that utilize a font your plotter can handle.

To Change Existing Lines:

1.  Type SF to access the Selection Filter

2.  Uncheck the Allow All setting

3.  Check the Text setting

4.  Click the Layer button, select the Lines layer and click OK

5.  Click the Select All button

6.  Type the command XT to set the Text Defaults

7.  Change the font name

8.  Click Apply

9.  Uncheck All

10. Check the Font selection

11. Click OK

12. Click OK

Note:  This will change the fonts but will not retain the rotation of each character.  Where the rotation used to match the line, the text will now be upright.

To Change the CUSTOMLT.MAC file:

1.  Click the Windows Start button and select Run

2.  Type Notepad and click OK

3.  In Notepad, click File > Open and under Files of Type, select All Files

4.  Navigate to the folder C:\SightSrv\Program\Macro and open the file CustomLT.MAC

5.  Change all the references to the ARIAL font to something your plotter can print, such as MODERN.  Make sure you retain the exact character spacing of the file.  For example, you'll need to delete the word ARIAL plus one space before inserting the word MODERN.

6.  Click File > Save to save the file, then close Notepad.
