"Sight" Survey  (SS111)

Shut off the Warning Message when Re-centering the Paper

A bug in the TrueCAD engine can cause your drawing to shift to a new coordinate base.  We have witnessed this occurring under the following procedure:  Sometime after you have re-centered your paper, you use the Undo command (OO) or you click the Undo icon.

To avoid this problem after re-centering your paper, save and exit your job, then re-open your job.

In "Sight" Survey 3, serial number 001103 and later, "Sight" Survey will provide you this warning when you have re-centered your paper using the CE command or the Re-center Paper icon.  (The message will NOT appear if you use the Start > Settings > Re-center Paper command):

Warning! Your paper has been re-centered...

DO NOT use the Undo command (OO) or the Undo button until you save your file AND re-open it!!! Using Undo after you have re-centered your paper can cause the drawing to shift off of the proper coordinate base.

To avoid the possibility of this happening, you should save this job and then close it and re-open it. Do you want "Sight" Survey to automatically save and reopen this job now?

Yes          No

(Note: Serial numbers denote release dates:  yymmdd.  Serial number 001103 means that version was released 2000 November 03)

If for some reason you just cannot live with seeing this message, you can suppress the warning message by adding a line to  the C:\SightSrv\Program\COGO.INI file using Microsoft Notepad.

Load the file into Windows Notepad as follows:  Click Start, select Run, type the command: C:\SightSrv\Program\COGO.INI and press enter.  Remember to adjust the drive letter if necessary.

Add this line to the end of the file: NoRecenterWarning=1

If you ever want to restore the warning, simply delete the line or change at the end of the line from a 1 to a 0  (i.e. NoRecenterWarning=0 )

Exit Notepad, saving the changes.

NOTE:  If you do decide to suppress the warning message, don't say we didn't warn you if your drawing mysteriously shifts it's position to incorrect coordinates.  This is a bug in the TrueCAD engine that will not be fixed by TrueCAD's manufacturer (Choice Computing)  Please make note of the following link, you'll likely need it:  Move a Drawing to New Coordinates  (SS27)
