Repairing a Corrupted Drawing

Procedure when “Sight” Survey has an existing job already opened:

a. Click on the Start > File > Repair Drawing (FD) option or type FD.

b. A message pops up telling you that you can only repair a drawing into a empty drawing. To get an empty file, save the job you are currently in and then select New Job from either your button bar or from the File pull-down menu.

Procedure when you are in an empty file:

a. Click on the Start > File > Repair Drawing (FD) option or type FD.

b. “Select drawing to repair” window pops up.

c. Click on the file name and then click OK.

d. After repairing the drawing, you are prompted to delete temporary macro file. In most cases, answer by clicking Yes.

e. "Sight" Survey automatically issues a ZA (Zoom All) command.

f. The export drawing window opens with a message “You can give this drawing a new name or simply clicking on the drawing that you wish this repaired drawing to replace. Do you want to save this repaired drawing?” Click Yes or No.

(1) If No is selected:

(a) The drawing is discarded, click OK.

(b) Issue a New Job (NJ) command and bypass the window that asks if you want to save this file.

(2) If Yes is selected you are prompted, “If you exit the “Filename to Write” window the repaired drawing file will be cleared and not saved. Afterwards, you will have to run Repair Drawing (FD) again in order to save the repaired file.” Click OK.

(a) The drawing export window opens. Either choose the drawing filename or type in a new name and click “OK” button to continue.

(b) After exiting this export window issue a New Job (NJ) command and bypass the window that asks if you want to save this file.

IMPORTANT: "Sight" Survey saves your job as two files, a drawing file (with a DRG filename extension, and a data file, with a ZAK filename extension. When you repair a drawing, you only affect the DRG file. Your newly repaired drawing will automatically load with your existing data file if you save the repaired drawing to the same name.
