"Sight" Survey
(SS66)
Can't load custom control DLL "Truectrl.DLL"
This error may
occur when starting "Sight" Survey. An "Unexpected Error; quitting"
message appears and Sight Survey doesn't load.
Generally the problem caused by
the improper expansion of the TrueCtrl.DLL file during installation. (This
is quite common to Windows XP) It is solved as follows:
Check the Sight Survey CD for the existence of a TrueCtrl.DLL file in the
root folder of the CD. CD's issued after January 6, 2002 have this file. If
found, copy it to the C:\Windows\System folder, or the C:\WinNT\System
folder.
If you do not have
TrueCtrl.DLL on a CD...
1. Do a scandisk to check the disk for physical problems.
2. Use Start > Find > Files or folders to find the Truectrl.dll file, which
should be in the
C:\Windows\System folder (or C:\WinNT\System folder on Windows NT or 2000)
The
file size should be 2565 Kb and dated 12/13/96.
3. Right-click on the found filename and Rename it as TRUECTRL.DL (omit the
last "L")
4. Re-install Sight Survey, or
click here and download the file, saving it to the System folder.
This will download a self-extracting Zip file. Once downloaded,
double-click on this file to open it. Click the Browse button
and select the Unzip to location as C:\Windows\System, and
click Unzip.
NOTE: This error might also occur
if you have a Matrox G450 Millennia card video card
