Rotate a Drawing Around a Point

IMPORTANT:  This procedure will rotate your drawing, but not the bearings as shown on the drawing.  All your bearing data will no longer be correct.  You must re-inverse or manually correct the bearing labels!

1.  Save your job (just in case).

2.  Identify the point around which you wish to rotate.

3.  Use Zoom Window (ZW) to zoom around the point you identified in step 2.

4.  Use the Selection Filter (SF) and select All to select the entire drawing.

5.  Select Start > Settings > Drawing Settings.  Click the Angular Format button.  Set your Angular Units to d.dddd or d.mm.ss and click OK to close that menu.  Click OK again to close the Drawing Settings menu.

6.  In the Drawing window, click Start > Modify > Rotate.  At the top the top of the Drawing window, you’ll be prompted: “Enter point about which to rotate”

7.  Click the Nearest Point () or the Grab All () cursor.  Place the cursor so the point identified in step 2 is under the cursor, and left-click the mouse.  This will select the point.

8.  When prompted at the top of the drawing window for the “Enter angle from keyboard, (else from cursor)”  click Yes.

9.  In the Enter angle box that appears, type the angular value using the format selected in step 5.  Use a negative value if rotating to the right.  Click OK and your drawing will be rotated.

10. When prompted at the top of the drawing window: “Enter point that must move,” click Cancel

11. Click somewhere on the drawing screen to de-select the drawing.
