Importing Text or Text Files into Sight Survey
IMPORTANT: Text files must be pure ASCII text. Document files from word processors such as Microsoft Word contain formatting commands that are not compatible with "Sight" Survey. To use a word processor document, you must first save it as an ASCII text file with no formatting.
You can easily import text and text files into both the Drawing Window and the Text Output Window. There are a three methods to insert text in either area.
Inserting Text into the Text Output Window
By Menu If you want to insert the contents of a text file into the text output window, select File > Import Text. You are first prompted to select the text file by using the file selection box. Click the file, then click OK.
By Cut and Paste Copy the text from another source to the Windows Clipboard. This is generally accomplished by highlighting the text with your mouse, then right-click your mouse and left-click on the Copy command that appears in the pop-up menu. Now switch back to "Sight" Survey and left-click your mouse in the Text Output window to set the insertion point. Press the Insert key once to allow for text insertion. Right-click your mouse in this window, then left-click on the Paste command that appears in the pop-up menu. Press the Insert key again to turn off the manual text entry mode.
By Typing the Text Left-click your mouse in the Text Output window to set the insertion point. Press the Insert key once to allow for text insertion. Type your text. When you are finished, press the Insert key again to turn off the manual text entry mode.
Inserting Text into the Drawing
By Menu If you want to insert the contents of a text file into a drawing, select Start > File > Import ASCII Text. You are first prompted to select the text file by using the file selection box. Click the file, then click OK. At the top of the Drawing window, you are prompted: Enter position text block should start. Simply click your mouse somewhere in the drawing near where you want the text to be placed. After the text has been inserted, you can drag it to a final position with your mouse.

Now switch back to "Sight" Survey and type the Text Line command, TL, or click the drawing window toolbar icon A. At the top of the Drawing window you are prompted: Enter text position. Simply click your mouse somewhere in the drawing near where you want the text to be placed. A Text Entry Dialog box appears. Right-click your mouse in this window, then left-click on the Paste command that appears in the pop-up menu. Click OK to close the dialog box and insert the text.
By Typing the Text In "Sight" Survey, type the Text Line command, TL, or click the drawing window toolbar icon A. At the top of the drawing window you are prompted: Enter text position. Simply click your mouse somewhere in the drawing near where you want the text to be placed. A Text Entry Dialog box appears. Type your text into the dialog box, then click OK to close the dialog box and insert the text.
NOTE: Imported text may need to have line breaks manipulated or manually inserted in order to be formatted as desired. This can be done through the use of the Text Entry Dialog box. Double-clicking on any piece of text will open the Text Entry Dialog box and allow that text to be edited.
