"Sight" Survey  (SS33)

Export to AutoCAD

Access the DXF/DWG Transfer window as follows:

In Sight Survey 1 or 2, select File > Export > Drawing.

In Sight Survey 3, use the Exchange File (XF) command.  This command opens the DXF/DWG TRANSFER WINDOW.

If your drawing or any portion of it was previously imported from another source like AutoCAD then we would encourage you to first exit the transfer window and run Repair Drawing (FD) on this drawing file.

Exporting a DXF or DWG file is a very straightforward procedure.  You simply give the program a filename and select the type of file you want to create.  When the transfer window appears, click the Save button and your file is written.

However, we do recommend one additional step, purging all redundant elements.  As you work on your "Sight" Survey drawing, it is quite likely that you have created several redundant elements; for example, several point numbers or lines stacked on top of each other.  You only see one copy, but several may exist.  To compact your file, click the Purge Redundant Elements checkbox and also check the Remove Duplicate Entities and Remove Unreferenced Blocks settings.

If you are writing a DXF file (not a DWG file) and you want to Add Elevation values to endpoints from the COGO coordinate list, check the box.  However, you must have actually placed a dot entity at each point that carries an elevation.  See Elevations are Missing in the DXF file (SS48)  for more information.
