Printing to an HP Printer over a Peer-to-Peer Network (Error printing to HP printer over a peer to peer network)

Hardware: HP Printer (accessed through network, not local)
Sometimes when "Sight" Survey prints across a network to an HP printer. the system may show an error message, no message or a hard lock of the system.
Resolution: Windows 95, 98, ME You must capture the printer port for the HP and assign it to a dummy LPT. To capture printer port: Go into the Printers menu. Start > Settings > Printers Right-click on the problem printer. Choose Properties Click on the Details tab Click on Capture Printer Port… At the Capture Printer Port window in Device select the LPT 7 or higher At Path select the computer that printer is located at.
Double click on Network Neighborhood Double click Entire Network Double click the computer with the shared printer Right click on the printer Select Capture Printer Port See above steps for the rest of this procedure
