"Sight" Survey (SS73)
SS3 caused a General Protection Fault in module TRUECTRL.DLL
Case 1: In most cases the computer on which this occurs is connected to a network and is running Windows Vista, XP, 2000 or Windows NT. We have not been able to isolate a specific cause, however we have had some some reports of conflicts with network software, usually Novell. We have contacted Novell and have sent them a TrueCtrl.DLL file, but they have not responded.
To see it you are having a network problem, try booting your system off the network as a stand-alone work station and see if that makes any difference.
Case 2: We are also aware that computers containing ArcInfo or ArcView software will conflict with "Sight" Survey as well.
Case 3: You might also check for the existence of extra BWCC.DLL files. See this document for more information: Some routines don't work, or strange errors occur (SS53)
Case 4: If this error occurs during "Sight" Survey start-up, it may be solved by disabling the video acceleration (if this is allowed by your video driver). For all Windows versions except Vista:
In Microsoft Vista:
Note: When you restart Sight Survey, you will get an error that Sight Survey cannot be loaded because of a conflict with another program. Simply click RETRY. If this does not solve the problem: Open Windows Explorer (My Computer) and navigate to the C:\SightSrv\Program folder. Right-click on the file LINE.BMP and then left-click on RENAME, towards the bottom of the menu that appears. Rename the file LINE2.BMP. Restart "Sight" Survey. Note: When you restart Sight Survey, you will get an error that Sight Survey cannot be loaded because of a conflict with another program. Simply click RETRY.
